His long-standing soccer team disbanded due to the pandemic’s constraints, leaving a void in his active lifestyle. Seeking a new challenge, Miguel, then in his mid-forties, picked up a tennis racket for the first time.

As he delved deeper into the sport, Miguel’s passion grew, but so did his frustration with existing equipment. Traditional tennis ball hoppers were either too flimsy, excessively heavy, or inefficient in collecting multiple balls. The options were limited: pick up balls one by one or invest in an expensive tennis ball mower.

Drawing from his background in mechanical engineering, Miguel envisioned a solution. He set out to design a versatile device that could:

• Transport up to 80 tennis balls effortlessly.
• Seamlessly convert from a ball picker to a hopper.
• Remain lightweight and collapsible for easy storage and transport.

After numerous prototypes and countless hours of refinement, Miguel achieved a design that met all his criteria. He patented this innovative device and began using it during his practice sessions. It wasn’t long before fellow players and coaches took notice, impressed by its functionality and sleek design.

Encouraged by the positive feedback, Miguel decided to bring his invention to the market. Through iterative design improvements, he developed a product that was not only functional but also stylish. Initially named “Scoopy,” the device underwent a rebranding to “FLIPP” after his wife pointed out the former’s unintended association.
